What’s sweet about Sweetshrubs? From a gardener’s point of view, Sweetshrubs Garden Center in Mount Airy, Georgia not only carries a healthy selection of nursery landscape plants, but they offer great advice backed up by years of experience.
I asked Jason McCarty, the owner of Sweetshrubs, why he chose that name for his business. “My grandmother, who I was quite fond of, used to carry around a Sweetshrub bloom in her purse when she was a teenager,” he said. “Since Sweetshrubs are a native plant to this area, it just seemed to be the perfect way to remember her.”
Sweetshrubs has on hand a wide variety of annuals, perennials, flower & vegetable seeds, evergreens, native landscaping plants as well as fertilizer, insecticides, soil conditioners, organic gardening and birding supplies.
Jason differentiates himself from the “big box” stores by offering advice based on 15 years of real life experience in the business of design, installation, and landscaping care. Jason has expertise in organic gardening and farming and can give guidance on soil conditioning, natural pest control, and growing techniques.
“We offer on-site consulting for landscape design issues or problem areas,” explained Jason. “Many gardeners want to do their own planting, or are maybe not in a position financially to hire a professional landscape architect. We can help with sketching out a design and giving them options on what plants go where and how to do it, and even help them with the planting process.”
You can hear Jason on Saturday mornings at 11AM on his new radio show on WCHM AM1490 in Clarkesville. The “Sweetshrubs Show” covers seasonal gardening topics and gives advice to listeners on a variety of landscape related issues.
